well--i was young -- 3rd grade The traction before the cast was the worse part--very painful I just remember being bored out of my mind in a hospital bed set up in the living room. For fun I would bounce a rubber ball off the wall repeatedly, all day. My poor mother.

nope - wrong again LOL
I was quite a daredevil as a kid
At 8 I jumped out of a tree after getting my cat down, and broke my shin. Had a non-walking cast- from toe to upper thigh. Had to stay elevated- no crutches for me. I scooted all around the house with my leg held up in front of me. I remember I wore the heel completly through on the carpet.
At nine I was in a bad bike wreck. Our hang out was a college that was being built nearby. I was on the handle bars of a 10 speed with a 17 year old driving. We hit a puddle. I broke my femur in two. Was in traction for a couple of months until they got the bones lined up again. They had to put me under to do the cast, I woke up with a cast from my chest all the way down covering my right leg completly and to the knee of my left leg. THere was a broomschck plastered into the cast which went from thigh to thigh.
At 12 I jumped off the roof of my house after getting a badmitton birdy off the roof. Mind you I had jumped off that house a hundred times! But I hit a bit of a hole and pretty much shattered my ankle. This was actually my most serious break, and there was some concern that I might not get full function back. I remember this accident vividly. LOL I KNEW I had broken my leg. I just sat there, watching everyone play badmitton, with my jacket over my foot. I soooo didn't want my mom to know I had done it again. It was getting dark, and here comes my Mom. "Judy, are you gonna come in for dinner?" "ummm I'm not hungry" My mom looks at me for half a second and says "Did you break your darn leg AGAIN???!!!!"
That poor woman!
