I am sure some may have already been a part of this arguement, but I am curious as to what people here think. The whole thing is based on ideas like
.333~ = 1/3 .666~ = 2/3 .999~ = 3/3 3/3 = 1
I personally don't feel any of this is correct. I feel that .9 going on forever is so close that with what we have now mathamatically there is really no difference but with a change in things that whole small difference could make the difference of being in one place or another similar to the way chaos theory was discovered just on a more miniscule scale.

I don't believe you're asking the question you think you are.
.9999999~~ repeating can be written as 9/10+ 9/100 + 9/1000, etc. it's an infinite geometric series, meaning we can find the sum of that series using this formula:
S= r/(1-A(1))
A(1) is the first term in the series (.9), and r is the ratio between any two consecutive terms (1/10, or .1).
plugging that into the formula, we get 0.1/0.1, which equals 1. This means .9+.09+.009+.0009 ad infinitum =1
tl;dr -- There is no difference. .999~ == 1.
