Those are classics. Every generation profited from the inventiveness of the classic poets. You should try Sophocles if you like Homer. Did you read it in Greek, geek?

yeah I read them for my myths and epics class...I liked them....beowulf on the other hand...I didn't (I know it's not by homer but, oh well) story was all right it just wasn't a very interesting read to me

Have you read Margaret Atwood's "Penelopiad"? It's the story told from Penelope's perspective (as well as Penelope's maids who get killed by Odysseus once he finally gets home). I'm partway through it and it's pretty good. It's a part of a series of myths retold by contemporary writers.
