i had a conversation about a show called "kids in the hall yesterday and we talked about a skit where they were arguing over the proper lyrics to the song "blinded by the light". this got me thinking about a book called "excuse me while i kiss this guy." so i figured this could make a fun thread.
the idea is to find out how many misspoken lyrics we have heard of. i know a lot of these can be funny and lead to a good laugh. i can think of 2 sets of misspoken lyrics
"excuse me while i kiss this guy" this is from the jimi hendrix song "purple haze" when jimi says "excuse me while i kiss the sky" the other is "hold me closer tony danza" this one cracked me up when i first heard it, it is from elton john's song "tiny dancer" the lyrics "hold me closer tiny dancer"
now what have any of you ever heard from people or even have done yourself

In the 80's the group "Men Without Hats" had a song called The Safety Dance, but at the time I thought the chorus was "Save Gdansk", and I thought it was about Lech Walesa in Poland.

The ability of the brain to make sense of the nonsensical is amazing. It hears a bunch of disconnected syllables and takes its best guess as to how they might fit together into words, and then creates a whole interpretation of the song based on those made-up words.

I misheard "your mother left defeated" instead of "you're broken and defeated" in My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade", and it absolutely sent me down the wrong path interpreting that concept album.

Don't have anything incredibly funny..one of my friends thinks a line in "Scar Tissue" by RHCP as "sarcasm is to know it all" when it's "sarcastic mr. know it all" but..there are fall out boy videos in youtube which has made up lyrics to their songs cause they're somewhat hard to understand if you dont' know the actual lyrics..same with some afi songs www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR2WwyAj5mM

wow I just found one that I had been singing incorrectly for most of my life the aerosmith song "Dream On" he says in the chorus "Sing with me, sing for the year" well whenever he would say "Sing with me" I thought it was Sing women
I didn't understand why that would be the lyrics but these ones make more sence.
