This forum is for users to help each other solve The Enigma Puzzle.First, go try it out at: enigmapuzzle.fizzlebot.comThen, come back here if you need a hint or two. SPOILERS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Offending users will be deleted, and their posts removed. The point of the puzzle is to have a mental challenge. Cheating undermines everyone's ability to be surprised and satisfied when solving the puzzles. Please be respectful to each other, and remember that not everyone thinks alike. Puzzles that were obvious to you may not be obvious to other players. If you like this puzzle, you will want to try some of the others on the Net. (Be warned, not all are from English speakers, and many require far more technical knowledge and advanced programs than this puzzle does. Still, they are fun!) They are located in the "Other Web Puzzles" forum. Have fun! Wednesday, July 13, 2005: Levels 28 through 32 added. Saturday, July 16, 2005: Level 33 added. Friday, November 18, 2005: Miscellaneous corrections and enhancements made (details in a post below). Saturday, April 25, 2009: The Enigma Puzzle moved to a new address. Link updated above.

Hiya, Discovered the Enigma riddles today and from what I've seen so far, I'm impressed (currently stuck at #15). But have a few suggestions to reduce user frustration, which could help to make your site more popular: 1) Riddle instructions for 2 and 2b both have a spelling error Higlight should be Highlight. 2) I was stuck on #2 for a while, since a new user hasn't even got started yet, I'd suggest radically changing 2b or perhaps get rid of the image. The 2b image had me going in a totally wrong direction. 3) #6 please change the image, I was trying to spell out the answer to fill in the "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _" as indicated, it should be "_ _ _ _" to eliminate frustration. 4) #7 please change the title, it's wrong and leads to frustration. 5) #8 is very cool (I'd like to know how you created the image) but unfortunately it doesn't work in Firefox or Opera. I'd suggest you make this clear on the page that the user MUST use IE on that puzzle to reduce user frustration. 6) 10 & 12 playlists, I'd suggest renaming them as .txt files which would help eliminate problems with users trying to open and view them. 7) #15 hmmm not sure what to suggest but it's certainly frustrating me at this point! I'm pretty sure I've got all the required information, as instructed, however I still can't COMBINE THE INFO INTO a valid URL to proceed. Hope you'll take these crits in the manner in which they are offered, I only wish for your continued success and growth.

11/18/2005: Made a few updates. - The front page has received a visual overhaul, and each puzzle page has received a small enhancement as well.
- Front page now specifies Internet Explorer as the browser of choice (this should help with an early puzzle).
- In response to lots of feedback, Puzzle 2 has been reworked a bit, and early indications are that it is much more "newbie-friendly".
- Spelling error "higlight" on Puzzles 2b, 3, 4 and 5 have been fixed.
- Spelling error in title of Puzzle 7 has been fixed.
Thanks to Digger (among others) for the excellent suggestions!

hey enigma! great puzzle (stuck on #15) and like the daily battle. I found the link on flabber.nl and it has come to my attention that they are not only posting 'spoilers', but the answer directly in their forum! That pi55es me off ...can you have a word with them?

Danman,
I share your frustration, and I will certainly ask them to remove the spoilers, but I'm honestly not expecting to see the offending posts removed.
(You may or not be aware that there are other spoiler sites out there too besides flabber... getting compliance from all of them will be tough.)
All I can say is, by checking those spoilers, people are missing an opportunity to really give themselves a challenge and the satisfaction of solving it on their own.
Be strong, just say no to spolier "crack"!

Is there any way to save where I am at in the enigma puzzle so that I do not have to go back and re-do them all when I come back on-line?

Great question! Unfortunately, the web service hosting the puzzle at this time is not able to have an auto-save feature. I recommend saving your progress in one of two ways:
1) Keep a series of notes, with the answer to each level written down. I typically work this way, and use Notepad to save a txt file. 2) Save your current level in your Favorites/Bookmarks. Then you can just pop back to where you last bookmarked.
Hope that helps!

i noticed that on the playlists you have it only warn as .mp3, but playlists are m3u files and put in the top somewhere that people should " Register for the best help."

For those just joining us, I lost my webspace (again) and had to upload the puzzle to a new location. All levels have been uploaded to the new site, and links confirmed functional. The puzzle can now be found at: enigmapuzzle.fizzlebot.comEDIT: If you have trouble seeing the new levels, you may have to reload the current page, or clear your cache. P.S.: I left everyone's post counts alone while I deleted posts in this thread, so please don't panic if you're into that sort of thing.
