Today, August 1st, 2007, was the 100th anniversary of the Worldwide Organization of Scouting, and in the spirit of that, I'm restarting a thread for the discussion of Scouting
There's been a (Second) decline in The Boy Scouts of America since the Mormon Church took over 90% of the Boy Scout troops, and they banned homosexuals from the organization, but overall the organization is still good... what are your views?
over the last year scouting seems to have populated a bit more again, please give your two cents

as someone who doesn't do scouting and has never done any of it i beileve that souting or something like that seems to be good for people in a time when people don't care enough about nature. things like tours to national parks and other things to connect people to nature is very important and the scouts are a great way of getting that type of kind to nature mentality into kids. unfortunatly it is sad that in our society people aren't kind to nature and therefore don't join. but i don't know the full situation so i can't say to much
my 2 cents

actually, that's a big problem with scouting is that everyone seems to loathe it, and those in it any more The biggest problem I, and others have with the organization is their no-homosexuality policy, it's a national policy, but lots of troops ignore it, however the general choice for scouting to be against it has lost at least a few members I'm sure...
